Follow the road and right around the corner you will face a new type of enemy. It may not seem particularly impressive at first, but as soon as you get closer, it transforms. The new form is much faster and can deliver fatal blows. You should take advantage of the fact that the conversion takes 2-3 seconds. If you ran up to a creature and attacked it immediately, it is quite possible that you will kill the monster before it has time to transform.

Enter the tower and head up the stairs. Go to another tower over the stone bridge and take the elevator. Use the ladder to reach the top where you must find the soul of the Keeper of the Fire under the bell. Take it and return it to the Guardian later.

Your journey to the palace begins in the protagonist's cell, and your first activity will be a conversation with Imoen, who is disturbed by strange sounds coming from her bedroom. Go to her cell, and after a while you will be attacked by a group of assassins. Do not try to protect Imoen, as she will be injured no matter what you do. Eliminate the threat and listen to the conversation between Shael Corwin and Liia Jannath, who will take care of Imoen. After finishing the conversation, use the stairs to reach the lower floor of the palace and face another group of assassins hiding in the dining room.
