This walkthrough focuses on the Settlement of the Undead, located directly in front of a large plaza. Along the way, you will encounter many secrets, Cathedral Knight, and a bonfire near the Dilapidated Bridge.

Behind the square is a building that you can access from both sides. Enter it through the door on the left, but first kill the two opponents located near the building and collect the titanite shard. Inside, be careful when walking around corpses, as a cage will come to life nearby. There is Pine Oak Resin near the body. Another corpse to be examined is hanging over the stairs - just hit it and it will fall down (large soul of a desert skeleton).
Find a hole in the floor and jump down (you will lose some of your health). You can eat Estus soup and collect the Warrior of Sunlight Covenant Token. Exit through the door.
In the corridor, you will meet several enemies. Watch out for small but strong and fast opponents and prisoners (you can aim at them to find out which ones are going to attack you). Do not approach them before you deal with other creatures. Two more cells will come to life right at the exit.
When you exit the building, go right and destroy the obstacle (screenshot). Thus, you will unblock the passage to the Soul of the unknown traveler. Return to the main road and continue your journey into the interior of the village.
You will end up in the hallway. At the end of it there is an undead Matron who will shoot at you. Dodge his attacks by moving left and right. If you find it too difficult, try going through the hallway as quickly as possible. If you still find it too difficult, ignore your enemies and run straight to the house in front of you. There is another bonfire right behind him.
Before leaving the corridor, turn left into the room. The enemy will run out of it, but you shouldn't have any problems with him. Inside you will find the Whip. Get to the end and turn right, right under the balcony where the undead Matrons are. At the end of the path, there is a titanite shard. After you will face a creature with a hammer and an undead Matron, but at the same time watch out for other enemies. If Matron doesn't jump off the balcony, there is a ladder on the left side that you can use to get to him. Look for the Titanite Shard on the balcony next to the corpse.
In order to collect another item, get to the small awning, which is on the right. Use it to get to the platform on the other side and grab the rusty coins that can be found next to the hanging corpse.
Remember: On your first visit to this place, look out for the crystal lizard. If you can kill her before she runs away, you will receive the Sharp Gem.
Amber - Battle with Holy Knight Holdrick
When you find yourself near the fire (Dilapidated Bridge), you can use the Ember. If you do, Holy Knight Holdrick will attack you. He will be marked in purple and you will receive a message about his attack. Prepare yourself and armor that provides protection against melee attacks.
The fight itself should follow two simple rules: use your shield and dodge blows. While you can block most of his hits, pay attention to your energy level. Holdrick specializes in quick attacks combined with jumping and sword dragging, which ends with a powerful blow. In addition to all this, he will no longer be able to surprise you with something. Just keep in mind that Holdrick can heal himself.
Kill him and get the Vertebre Brace. You can use it to increase your rank in the Marauder Covenant.
Continue on your way from the Dilapidated Bridge
When you light the fire, explore the bars on the right, behind the stone bridge - you will unlock the shortcut by opening the sewer door. Go forward and face one enemy equipped with a saw. Outsmart him and stab him in the back.
Not far from here you will reach a clearing, where you will find yourself under heavy fire. If you run fast enough, you can avoid the spears flying in your direction. Your main goal is to get to the building on the other side. At the entrance, you will face some opponents who may stand in your way. Keep moving to avoid the projectiles and wait to exit the building.
Remember: There are many items in this area, such as the Undead Bone Shard or the entire Cleric's set (before entering the house, turn left and head up until you reach a second small hut). There is also Mortician Ash. You can look at these items now, or after you encounter a creature that continues to throw spears at you (the latter is easier and you will find the giant in the cathedral on the outskirts).
Watch out for enemies in the building. Their spears won't reach you here, so it would be wise to deal with everyone else. If there are too many of them for you, try making them get stuck in doors or lure them out into a circle between trees (a precision spear can kill them, so if you've already spoken to a giant, he will only attack them). When using the ladder, be sure to jump onto the balcony on the other side and collect the Great Scythe. If all this is too hard for you, you can also walk through the building until you reach another room that is filled with flowers.
From here, take the road to your left to reach the arena, or go right and return to the square you came from. This route will be displayed if you choose “right, across the bridge” at an intersection.
