Remember: There are two ways to get to this place. The presented solution suggests jumping in a specific place (screenshot). You may find yourself here on your way to the cathedral (cross the large lawns and turn left onto the stone bridge - this is one of the many paths that lead to this place). If you have right armor and a lot of health points, you can try to slowly slide down, right behind the NPC. Despite the fact that you will lose a significant amount of health points, you will be able to survive this journey.
Go to the right, up the hill and watch out for the rats that will suddenly appear in the room (destroy their lair so that there are not too many rats). Go upstairs (there is a Talisman of Saints near the stairs). You can unlock the bars on the right, and thus avoid trouble when you jump down in the future. Irina is on the left side. Talk to her (let her touch you) to receive a prayer gesture. End the conversation and she will travel to the Cleansing Chapel.
Remember: When you are directly in front of where you will meet Irina, look up. There is a corpse that you can shoot down (or use a fire bomb). It contains a Sacred Red and White Shield +1.
Return to the pit if you want to explore this area a bit. Watch out for two opponents at the crossroads. Turn left and run after the crystal lizard appears - if you kill it, you will receive the Heavy Gem. Also, look out for the Double Titanite Shard.
Use the corridor that goes under the stone bridge. Look out for skeletons that are created from scattered bones (try to attack quickly before they come together). Walk forward and you will find the Soul of the Unknown Traveler, Halberd and Loincloth, next to the statue. The door can be opened from the other side, and this is another path through which you can enter the pit.
You need Ash Mortician. To find it, go to the Dilapidated Bridge bonfire, in the direction of the cemetery (there are graves on the left side). Watch out for the projectiles (if you spoke to the giant from the cathedral, you will be safe). Face the tree marked on it (in front of the building) and turn left. The item you are looking for is not far from here, between the graves. Take it to the maidservant in the Temple of Fire and buy the Grave Key for 1500 souls (it will be added to your inventory as soon as you retrieve the ash).
Now that you have the key, head to the dungeons. Enter the previously described area full of enemies (if you unlocked the shortcut before this, the other entrance is behind the stone bridge, opposite the Dilapidated Bridge bonfire). Use the key to open the grate. The process for exploring the bottom of the layout is the same.
After you have explored the entire area, go to the arena and get ready for a fight with the Cursed Great Tree boss. After you deal with it, return to the elevator in the cathedral and use it to reach the bottom. The exit will lead you to the Victims Path location.
