Usually Pokémon are of one type, but there are Pokémon of two types. Since Pokémon have their own strengths and weaknesses in relation to others, it is a good idea to have Pokémon of different types on your team.
For example, the water type is strong against the fire type, but weak against the herbal type; fiery strong against herbal, but weak against water.

The best in terms of attack and defense is the ghost type Pokémon, and the worst is the magical one. Either Pokemon of the same type, or a dark type, which make up a total of 0,2% of all available Pokémon in the game, can be compared with ghost Pokémon in defense. But you shouldn't build your team from only ghost Pokémon - instead, balance it with different types to compensate for the shortcomings of all Pokémon and enhance their merits.
