After opening the game, click on the icon in the lower right corner of the screen. After that, you will see all the available Pokémon that are near you. Once inside the new menu, you can click on any of them and start tracking it.
It's worth noting that you can only track one Pokémon at a time. You also need to make sure that the number of visible paw marks on the screen is reduced. Whenever you see their numbers start to rise, go the other way.
