If you don't want to deal with the Gray Mother and complete quests for her, then just follow the tips below to find all the hidden caches.
Stash 1: In the church
Before you arrive in Milton, you will stumble upon St Christopher's Church. There is a fallen tree behind the building where you will see a box on the ground.
Inside the box you will find a bottle of lamp fuel, a steroid injection, a basic sewing kit, a piece of cloth, and an MRE.
Stash 2: In the cave
The cave with the next cache is located on the way to the Tower. Instead of going forward, just turn left and follow the path into a dark cave.
At the end of the cave you will see a bunch of rocks - this is your hiding place. Open it and grab a pack of MRE, water purification tablets, wrapped wool, and a flare.
Stash 3: At Miller's House
Miller House is the last house in Milton, which is also the most destroyed. You will find another orange box behind the house.
Inside the cache will be a bottle of antibiotics, an antiseptic, an energy bar, and pain relievers.

Red:
- A circle means a note in the house
- The square means a hiding place inside the cave next to the radio tower
Yellow:
- A circle means a note in a green car on the way to a gas station
- The square means a hiding place next to the church, behind a fallen tree
Blue:
- The circle means the note that the Gray Mother gives you
- The square means a hiding place behind a broken fence in the "garden"
Forester's Cache on the Mysterious Lake
Start at the Logging Camp marked on the map, and then climb the mountain.
The cache will be hidden on the far side, as detailed in the screenshots below.
