Endless Space Guide 2. How to get basic resources

46530207

On every planet, your population contributes to the production of these resources. There is no distinction between farmers, miners or scientists. One unit of the population produces a variety of products. Their number depends on the planet you colonized - for example, lava planets provide more industry, while the arctic world is better for creating science points, but in both cases, food yields are the main one.

These modifiers can change if the planet contains anomalies, strategic or luxury resources, or when you place appropriate buildings that can improve the overall score. You can also assign groups with special abilities (for example, the sofons have a small bonus of +1 and +3 in cold climates to generate science points). Some structures (or events) can change the final income by a positive / negative percentage (for example, + 10% to science for the system). Some specific structures increase the generation of several resources: for example, microwave pipes (system improvement) add 2 points to FIDSI, that is, to all 5 production areas, per one unit of the planet's population.

Key Resources

Food - It is needed to feed the population in the system, increase the population (in the system or in the colonies) and replenish the labor resources used by the army.

Industry - Required for the construction of new buildings and ships. Over time, you will be able to “create” projects that turn your Industry Points into another FIDSI resource.

Dust - Currency in the Endless Space universe. You will use it to pay for the maintenance of buildings and fleets. It also serves to buy resources, ships and heroes on the market. In addition, you can use it to speed up production in this system.

Science - You will use it to discover new technologies that will ensure the development of your civilization.

Impact - The production of this resource contributes to the expansion of the sphere of influence around the system. The higher the value per turn, the faster your boundaries will expand. It is also a specific currency that you will use for diplomacy and negotiation.

Endless Space Guide 2. Key Resources

For example, a small forest planet produces 8 food units, 6 industry units (usually 4, but 2 additional units are provided by the luxurious Jadonix resource), 4 dust units, 3 science units and 0 influence units per unit of population (picture above). Since there are 3 units of population on the planet, you get three times more basic resources, namely 24 units of food, 18 units of industry, 12 units of dust, 12 units of science (there is only a population of the Sophon race on the planet, and it has a +1 bonus to science, so you get 4 per population, not 3) and 0 influence. The larger the population, the greater the profit. The result from each planet is added up, and you get the total income for the system.
