There are several things to consider before choosing the perfect weapon for a ship. First, for each type of weapon you need to hire and train a separate crew member.

For example, Bhurt is one of the first teammates you unlock, and all of his talents revolve around increasing damage, increasing range, and decreasing cannon reloads. It also gives buffs to the Shooter ship. This is an indicator that the cannons in Battle Bay are one of the best weapons for the players who command the Gunslingers.
