In the first few minutes, you will be gasping for breath from the lack of oxygen and wonder how you are still alive. But once you get familiar with the basics of the game, you will realize that it is incredibly fun and addictive.
How to collect resources
This is the first thing you will learn in Astroneer... You must grab your tool by pressing E, then press and hold the right mouse button to get whatever resources you need. If you find that your instrument is dead, just wait a few seconds and its power will automatically recover. Keep in mind that there is limited space in your backpack. First of all, it is better to start collecting resin, which you will really need when building a base.
How not to suffocate
When you gather resources, the question arises, "Why am I continuing to choke?" Well, if you go too far from your "cocoon", then you will see how the little blue leash that feeds your character with oxygen disappears. You will be fine for a minute or so, but after that, your oxygen reserves will start to deplete. In order to replenish it, go back towards the "cocoon" until the blue line appears again.
If you find a Bridging Resource, stock up on it and use it to create links. Go to the backpack by pressing Q, and then start crafting. After you create the leashes, you can start placing them by pressing T. Do this when you are away from the cocoon. This will allow you to maintain a constant flow of oxygen.
Base construction
To get started, collect the following resources:
- Eight connection
- Six resin
- Two copper
- Two aluminum
The easiest way to find copper and aluminum is to check for ship wrecks and white spheres.
With the ingredients listed, you have everything you need to create a fuel condenser and trading platform. Next, collect materials to create a research laboratory and a compartment for transport. Maybe even a printer. Resources required
Research laboratory
- Six connections
- Three resins (two to complete an existing node)
Transport compartment
- Four connections
- Three resins
- Two aluminum
Printer
- Four connections
- Three resins
- Two copper
To make it easier to trade, you need to build a shuttle in your transport bay. Or build a rover to speed up your exploration. In addition, while exploring the planet, you can find blueprints for other vehicles.
The Research Lab allows you to unlock new blueprints when you find unidentified items, and the printer allows you to create improved power supplies, oxygen tanks, and many other items. This functionality can also be extended by the research laboratory. Just drag and drop unidentified elements on your planet to your base and place them in the laboratory.
