Along with the 1.37 update, AFK Arena added another Wonderful Journey called the Howling Wastes. The main goal is to solve puzzles in order to get to the final boss fight. As far as the battles are concerned, they are not that difficult, so if you know how to solve puzzles, you will have no difficulty in completing the journey.
Recommended relics:
- Herald of Fire and Herald of Ice
- Horn of war
- Moonstone and Sunstone
- Quiet hope
- The sands of Time
- Poisonous hug
- Any relics that increase attack and damage
- Relics for critical damage
Recommended Heroes:
- Tazi, Toran, Rowan, Megira, Ezij, Ferael and Eiron (the last two heroes are suitable if there is a pumped-up named item).

Howling Wastes walkthrough
Step 1
Go straight where there will be two enemy camps. Destroy them and take the chests.
Step 2
You need to track a laser of different colors to turn it off.
From the very beginning, move the refractor on the rails to the top position, after which a side section on the right will open up, where you will find several camps and chests.
Step 3
Now that you have collected a few relics and pumped up a bit, it's time to destroy a few more enemies. Deal with 3 camps and collect relics.
There is also another camp at the top, which also needs to be cleared.
Step 4
It's time to open the next part of the map, for which you need to move the lasers to the left side.
Move both overlapping blue lasers to the right first and then use the right refractor to turn them off.
To do this, use the refractor AFTER you place the blue lasers to the right (or it will block your path horizontally), and then move the refractor down - this will reveal the area of the map to the left.
Step 5
Here you will find a tunnel with a lot of enemy camps and Golden Chests.
Then move the refractor downward so that the red laser turns off the blue laser that is blocking the road.
After that, go left where you will find 2 camps and 2 gold chests. Clean them now because in the next steps you will close the path to them.
Step 6
Go back and move the cart down to turn off the blue laser. Destroy all enemy camps and collect relics. Note that the opponents here are slightly stronger than the previous ones.
Step 7
It's time for a puzzle.
Walk to the right of where you are, where you will see a triangle from the railroad. You need to set it up so that the left cart is on the bottom and the top cart is on the left (as shown in the screenshot).
Now go back to the previous section of the map, and again move the refractor to the middle position (position in step 5). This will turn off the blue laser at the top.
Then move the cart to the left (click on it, after which you will need to go around it).
After that, go to a small area under the railway, and move the cart to the left.
Walk up to where you will find 3 camps and 2 gold chests.
At the end of this section, you will see a blue lever that you need to pull, after which you can leave this section of the map through the blue stone.
Step 8
Use the refractor and put it up (shown in the screenshot). This will open the final triangle section of the railroad.
Now go back upstairs and move the cart to the top position. You will turn off the blue laser, and you will have access to a new site.
Unfortunately, your path is closed, so you need to use a portal. Make sure you clear all camps and collect all relics as you need them!
Step 9
At this step, there are several camps left between you and the final Crystal Chest, including a boss fight. Be sure to grab the legendary relics that will help you against the boss.
